Broken Plate's longtime chef & his wife take reins of the popular Manitowoc restaurant
MANITOWOC – Two folks very familiar with Broken Plate Catering will become the restaurant’s new owners.
Executive Chef Greg Czekala and his wife Lauren have been slowly working to take over operations the past few years as founder and owner Joe Schuh comes closer to retirement.
“The diner has been all Greg’s ideas and doings from the start, with Friday fish fry and expanding it to what it is today,” Schuh said in a social media post.

Lauren is an event coordinator and baker at Broken Plate. She has a background in business management and has been working with Joe to learn the business’s books and handling catering bookings.
Lauren has a college degree in baking and plans to expand the baked goods offerings at Broken Plate.
