Hamdi Mohamed (born or )[1] is an American politician who is a Commissioner of the Port of Seattle. Elected in , she is the first Black woman elected to the position.[2]
Early life and education
Mohamed was born in Somalia and came to King County at 3 as a refugee.[3] Her father worked as a trucker and her mother worked at Seattle Tacoma Airport.[4] She received a Bachelors of Arts in Law, Society, and Justice and a Masters of Arts in policies studies from the University of Washington.[2]
She previously worked as a district director for U.S.
RepresentativePramila Jayapal and currently works as a policy adviser to King County ExecutiveDow Constantine on matters related to equity and economic development.[1][5]
